In order to solve this puzzle, teams needed to find a “sand pit” (a baking sheet tray filled with sand) along with some brushes and other tools. By using the tools to dig up what is “buried” in the sand, teams found some shards at the bottom.
These shards can be assembled into a 5✕5 grid of letters with numbers on the top and left. The numbers can be used as clues to a nonogram puzzle. The answer can then be read from of the shaded squares in the grid: STREET SWEEPERS.

The five shards at the bottom of the sand pit were 3D printed (using Bambu Lab PLA Matte filament in Desert Tan, the same material used for the metapuzzle pieces) and then taped with double-sided tape to the bottom of the “sand pit.” If you’d like to make your own sand pits, we have included the 3D model files used to print the shards.
